Bocadillos

I recently had the opportunity to go to Bocadillos twice within a two-week period. I had heard so much about it and was very anxious to try it. It is a small tapas place near The Bubble Lounge on Montgomery Street at Washington. It impressed me that the menus were almost totally different both times I visited – I really like that they focus on whatever is fresh and seasonal. Some of the highlights of both trips were: the beet salad with sliced apples and frisee, the couscous salad with tomatoes, cucumbers and feta cheese, the garbanzo bean and white corn salad, the Serrano ham with fresh olive oil, the pork ribs, the sautéed carrots and peas and the potato wedges with chili powder and romesco sauce. A couple of their desserts were pretty spectacular, too – the Greek-style yogurt with fresh strawberries and a balsamic reduction sauce and the coconut bread pudding with a pineapple coulis. They do not take reservations so you have to get their early or wait for a table.
